SOE recently announced that Everquest 2 will be making the switch to the "Free to Play" model ... the same that the EQ2X branch has been running for a while now.
Hold on though, before you reach for that "Cancel Subscription" button, you may want to consider the differences in the "Subscription Levels" and what restrictions come with the Free and Silver subscriptions.

A new utility has been released, called EQ2Inventory, which allows you to create and view a list of all the items in your bags, bank, shared bank, and house vault. You use an in-game macro (explained on the info page) to generate a log file. You then open that log file with EQ2Inventory and it allows you to view all of your items ... it even puts them in the corresponding spot so you know where they are. The download and instructions can be found on the info page at http://eq2interface.com/downloads/info5059-EQ2Inventory.html It seems that there is a massive multi-state power outage that is affecting parts of Arizona and California currently. This, unfortunately, includes San Diego which is where some of the SOE servers are setup. This means that EQ2 and many, if not all, other SOE games are "down for the count". SOE has no time-frame on restoration of power but according to some early rumors (http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/blackout/) it could be Friday sometime before power is fully restored. You can keep up to date with the situation via the EQ2 Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/EverQuest2 or the Twitter account at http://twitter.com/#!/everquestii UPDATE: GU 61 has been postponed and will now be released on Thursday, August 25. Smokejumper has posted, on the official forums, a few very important things to know about the upcoming GU 61 which is due out Tuesday, August 23 Thursday, August 25. You can see the full post at http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=505128 The highlights are:
If you plan right, you can use this opportunity to have some items reset so you can pass them to an alt and you can also (if I read that right) get some adornments back from old gear that you've grown out of. |
