You may, or may not, have heard that SOE will soon be implementing changes to the harvesting tools. This is directly related to the changes coming to harvesting time (i.e. they are going to reduce the harvesting time across the board).
The short version is that they will be merging all standard crafted (i.e. non-tinkered) harvesting tools into a "Harvesting Kit" which will work for all harvest types. Additionally; they are going to modify the harvest time reduction granted by the kits and also add a chance to double-harvest.
You can read the full details in the forum post over on the EQ2 Forums.
SOE has announced the upcoming release of GU 60 for Everquest 2. This update, scheduled for May 17, 2011, will bring with it the usual bug fixes but will also be introducing some new content and a UI improvement for the adornment system.
The new content will include two new Heritage quests, a new Signature quest line, The Crystal Caverns zone, a new Battlegrounds map, a new Battlegrounds game type, and the Fortress of Drunder in the form of 3 new instances and 3 new raid zones.

Ever wonder what goes into bringing the EQ2 monsters to life on screen?
The folks over at Game Informer have posted a time-lapse video showing the creative process behind building Yelinak the Ancient (the big dragon found in Thurgadin).
Check out the video, with the developer commentary, at http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2011/04/06/time-lapse-video-creating-an-everquest-ii-boss-monster.aspx.
There has been a lot going on in the world of Everquest 2 lately: The launch of Destiny of Velious, gear stats getting nerfed, gear stats getting "un-nerfed", and a myriad of other changes.
That, it seems, was only the beginning of what sounds like it will be an interesting year for EQ2. Dave "Smokejumper" Georgeson (the EQ2 producer) has dropped a few hints about development that is planned for EQ2 throughout 2011.
Some interesting highlights are new content in DoV, a game engine overhaul, and what sounds like some pretty significant changes to Freeport (and eventually Qeynos).
